SPARTANBURG, S.C.--USC Aiken's men's tennis team, ranked 37th in NCAA Division II, saw its 2005 season come to an end today with a 5-0 loss to fifth seeded and 21st ranked Francis Marion University at the 2005 Peach Belt Conference Tournament in Spartanburg, S.C. The ninth seeded Pacers finish the campaign with a 13-12 record. The Patriots (16-5) advance to meet Augusta State in the fifth place match.
FMU swept the three doubles matches, winning each one by a score of 8-1 and then put away USC Aiken with two singles wins.Â
Kevin Taylor, the 15th ranked singles player in NCAA Division II, downed
Pierre Negri at number one singles, 6-3 and 6-4. Daniel Coupek lost just one game on his way to a 6-0 and 6-1 win at number five singles over
Nikesh Singh.
