AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken, ranked 25th in NCAA Division II, lost to 14th ranked Georgia College & State University, 7-2, tonight at the USCA Tennis Complex in Aiken, S.C. The Lady Pacers conclude the 2005 regular season with a 14-9 overall record and a 4-6 Peach Belt Conference mark. The Lady Bobcats improve to 13-8 on the season and 6-4 in the PBC. 

GC&SU took the early lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. The duo of Celine Martin and Anna Shchupak, ranked 14th in the nation, beat USCA's Kerry Donovan and Mayra Kaefer at number one doubles by a score of 8-2. Dominique Cassetori and Elly Toth downed Sofia Intriago and Jessica McKnight at number three doubles, 8-3, for the Lady Pacers first point.

Shchupak, the 23rd ranked singles player in NCAA Division II, beat Cassetori at number one singles, 6-2 and 6-1. Martin, Chenelle Kruger, Intriago and McKnight also earned singles victories for GC&SU.

USC Aiken's other point came at number four singles where freshman Kerry Donovan came from behind to beat Anna Davidsson. After losing the first set 6-4, Donovan took the second 6-2 and the third set 7-5 to earn her 16th singles victory of the season.

The Lady Pacers begin play in the 2005 Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Thursday. USCA, the seventh seed, will take on UNC Pembroke, the 10th seed, at 8:00 a.m. The tournament is being hosted by USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C.
