AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken's women's tennis team, ranked 34TH in NCAA Division II, shutout Wingate University, 9-0, today at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex in Aiken, S.C. The Lady Pacers win for the seventh straight time and improve to 10-2 overall. Wingate drops to 3-2.
Otavia Bastos sailed to a win in number five singles without losing a single game, beating Cameron Curlee 6-0 and 6-0.
Nicole Copp and
Kerry Donovan each lost just one game on their way to 6-0 and 6-1 victories in number three and four singles.
Bastos and Donovan are riding seven match win streaks. Donovan, a freshman, also improved to 11-1 in singles play in 2005.
The Lady Pacers will return to action on Thursday when they travel across the Savannah River to face rival Augusta State University for a Peach Belt Conference match at 2:00 p.m.
