AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken's men's tennis team, ranked 35th in NCAA Division II, fell to 19th ranked Delta State University, 6-2, today in Aiken, S.C. The Pacers fall to 10-7 on the season, with all seven losses coming to teams ranked in the national top 35. Delta State improves to 4-1 overall.
The visitors won two of the three doubles matches. USCA's
Fernando Blanco and
Fernando Guevara defeated Alex Nicolau and Benjamin Sharp, 8-6, in number three doubles.
In singles play, Delta State picked up points at number one, three, four and five singles. David Voravongsa, the 28th ranked singles player in the country, beat
Pierre Negri in number one singles by a score of 6-2 and 6-4.
USC Aiken's lone singles victory came when
Nicolas Lombardo defeated Thomas Pasquet, 7-6 and 6-4, at number two singles.
The Pacers will return to action on Friday when they host Pfeiffer University at 12:00 p.m., at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex.
