AUGUSTA, Ga.--USC Aiken's women's tennis team moved from 34th to 25th in the latest NCAA Division II Top-40 poll released on Wednesday, and the Lady Pacers beat rival Augusta State University, 8-1, on Thursday in the first defense of their new ranking. USCA improves to 11-2 overall and 3-1 in the Peach Belt Conference. The Lady Jaguars fall to 4-6 overall and 0-6 in PBC play.
Otavia Bastos and
Kerry Donovan each extended their singles winning streaks to eight matches. Bastos defeated Jeaneen Brester 6-0 and 6-0 at number five singles. Donovan won 6-2 and 6-2 over Ashley Abrams at number four singles.
ASU's only point came at number one singles where Sarah Jegat beat
Mayra Kaefer, 6-3 and 6-4.
The Lady Pacers will return to action on Saturday when they host fifth ranked Columbus State University at 11:00 a.m.Â
