AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken's men's tennis team fell today to Augusta State University, 5-4, at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex in Aiken, S.C. The Pacers drop to 11-6 overall and 2-4 in Peach Belt Conference play. The Jaguars improve to 9-9 and 1-6 in the PBC.
USCA fell behind after Augusta State swept all three doubles matches, including a 9-8 win by Jaguars Mathieu Leblond and Guillaume Payment over the USC Aiken duo of
Fernando Guevara and Pierre Negri in the number two doubles match.
The Pacers won four of the six singles matches but couldn't pull out the team win.
Harshit Sharma beat Zia Hai in the number one singles match, 6-2 and 6-1. Negri,
Nicolas Lombardo and
Carlos Huerta also won their singles matches in straight sets.
USC Aiken will return to action on Monday when it host eighth ranked Lander University, for a Peach Belt Conference match, at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex, at 1:00 p.m.
