AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken picked up two men's tennis wins today at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex in Aiken, S.C. The Pacers defeated Catawba College, 5-2, and then shutout Roger Williams University, 9-0. USCA improves to 9-5 on the season while both Catawba and Roger Williams fall to 8-5 overall in 2004. 

USC Aiken won two of three doubles matches against Catawba College and then won three singles matches to secure the victory. Harshit Sharma and Carlos Huerta defeated Jose Valesquez and David Argente, 8-1, in the number one doubles match. 

In singles action, Pierre Negri, Nicolas Lombardo and Huerta each defeated their opponents in straight sets. Eric Noll picked up the Indians' lone singles win by beating Fernando Guevara, 6-4 and 6-3, in the number three singles match. 

Against Roger Williams University, the Pacers lost just two games in doubles play and eight games over six matches in singles. Huerta and Bogdan Diaconescu defeated their opponents with out losing a single game, winning 6-0 and 6-0.

In the number two doubles match, Negri and Fernando Blanco teamed to beat Robert Mincarelli and Nathaniel Schu by an 8-0 score.

The Pacers will return to action on Wednesday when they host Belmont Abbey College beginning at 2:30 p.m., at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex on the USCA campus.
