COLUMBUS, Ga.--USC Aiken's women's tennis team fell to eighth ranked Columbus State University, 8-1, today in a match-up of Peach Belt Conference women's tennis teams in Columbus, Ga. The Lady Pacers, ranked 40th among NCAA Division II teams, fall to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the PBC. The Lady Cougars improve to 6-2 on the season and 3-1 in league play.
The doubles tandem of
Nicole Copp and
Heather Thornton picked up USCA's lone win by beating Vita Feldmane and Jessica Spencer, 8-6, in the number three doubles match.
Diana Ghergi, the 10th ranked singles player in the nation, defeated
Dominique Cassetori, 6-1 and 6-0, in the number one singles match.
Otavia Bastos was edged in the number four singles match by Feldmane, 7-5 and 7-5.
The Lady Pacer tennis team will be back in action Tuesday when they host Mount Olive College, at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex, beginning at 12:00 p.m.Â
