AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken's men's tennis team evened its record on the season at 2-2 with a 7-2 non-conference win over Wingate University on Monday in Wingate, N.C. The Bulldogs fall to 1-2 overall in 2004.
The Pacers took the lead with three doubles wins and then won four of the six singles matches to secure the victory.
Harshit Sharma and
Nicolas Lombardo defeated Joe Kanekar and Chase Carman, 8-6, in number one doubles action. USCA's other two doubles teams won by similar 8-4 scores.
Pierre Negri won a three set battle in the number two singles slot. Negri won the first set 6-2, dropped the second 2-6 and edged Kotaro Noguchi 6-4 in the decisive third set.
Carlos Huerta and Brandon Richardson played a close first set in number six singles. Huerta came out on top 7-6 (7-4) and then shutout Richardson in the second set, 6-0.
The Pacers will return to action on Saturday when they travel to face Columbus State University beginning at 3:00 p.m.Â
