AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken's women's tennis team lost just one game in singles action and picked up its first win of the 2004 season by beating Johnson C. Smith, 9-0, today at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex in Aiken, S.C. The Lady Pacers improve to 1-4 overall this season. The Golden Bulls fall to 1-6 in 2004.
Four of the Lady Pacers won in straight sets without losing a single game.
Mayra Kaefer defeated Amber Shoecraft, 6-1 and 6-0, and
Heather Thornton won by forfeit.
On the doubles side the duo of
Otavia Bastos and Kaefer won, 8-1, over Kerri Legette and Natasha Hairston. In the number two doubles match,
Dominique Cassetori and Thornton defeated Shoecraft and April Lewis, 8-2. USCA won the third doubles match by forfeit.
The Lady Pacer tennis team will be back in action Sunday when they travel to face UNC Pembroke beginning at 2:00 p.m.Â
