MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.--USC Aiken's men's tennis team fell to Georgia College & State University, 5-4, today in Milledgeville, Ga. The Pacers fall to 0-1 on the season and 0-1 in Peach Belt Conference play. The Bobcats improve to 2-0 overall and in the PBC.
Harshit Sharma defeated James Gorin in straight sets (7-6, 6-1) in number one singles play.
Fernando Guevara defeated Per Schartum-Hansen in the number four singles match, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-2.
Fernando Blanco also earned a victory in singles action in his USCA debut. Blanco downed Marcelo Ferreira.
Freshman Pierre Negri fell in three sets in the number two singles match. Negri lost to Rodrigo Yamauti 1-6, 7-5 and 6-4.
In doubles action, the duo of Sharma and
Nicolas Lombardo defeated Gorin and Rodrigo Yamauti by an 8-3 score.
The Pacers will return to action on Wednesday when they host eleventh ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University at the USCA Tennis Complex beginning at 2:00 p.m.
