Box Score AIKEN, SC--The undefeated Presbyterian College Blue Hose (6-0-0) tallied two first half goals to blank USC Aiken (0-3-0) 2-0 and spoil the Pacers 2003 home opener in non-conference men's soccer action. PC's Trent Weber and Corey Jackson scored 16 minutes apart midway through the first half to propel the Blue Hose to their seventh-straight win in the series.
Following an opening scoreless 20 minutes, Weber knocked home a rebound goal off Derek Knapp's shot to put the Blue Hose on the board in the 21st minute. In the 37th minute, Jackson drilled one past goalkeeper
Peter Calabrese from 25 yards out to make it 2-0.
Both teams battled in a competitive second half, but USCA could dig itself out of the two-goal deficit. PC led 14-8 in shots and 9-2 on corner kicks. In a physical match that was whistled for 42 total fouls, the breakdown was 23-19 in favor of the Pacers.
Calabrese made seven saves while Kevin Czar stopped three shots.
USC Aiken will host #18 Francis Marion on Saturday, September 20 at 3:30 PM in their Peach Belt Conference opener while Presbyterian returns home to Clinton, SC to host Carson-Newman on Saturday at 6:00 PM in a South Atlantic Conference Showdown.
