SPARTANBURG, S.C.—USC Aiken fell to eighth ranked USC Spartanburg, 7-2, today in Peach Belt Conference men's tennis in Spartanburg, S.C. The Pacers fell to 6-5 on the season and 1-4 in conference play. The Rifles improve to 15-0 overall and 6-0 in the PBC.
USCA earned one singles win and one doubles win.
Fernando Guevara defeated Ben Ureta in the number three singles match by a score of 6-3 and 7-5. The duo of
Harshit Sharma and
Carlos Huerta downed Spartanburg's team of Lighton Muchinda and Rodolfo Castro, 8-6.
Sharma fell in three sets to Diego Sist in the number two singles match, 6-7, 6-4 and 6-3. The Rifles won the other four singles matches in straight sets.
The doubles combo of
Kiril Popov and
Nicolas Lombardo lost a close one to Sist and Ureta. The USCA team fell by a score of 8-6.
The Pacers will be back in action on Saturday when they step out of conference play for a match with North Greenville College in Greenville, S.C. USCA will take to the courts at 12:00 p.m.
