Box Score 2 AIKEN, SC--USC Aiken (19-14, 5-8 PBC) scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to sweep the rival USC Spartanburg Rifles (15-14, 5-9 PBC) in a Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at J.H. Satcher Field. The Pacers won game one 8-3 and then picked up the win in the nightcap 5-4. USCA is now 32-8 all-time versus USCS including a 9-1 record over the past three seasons.
Trailing 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh in game two,
Tony Hanks hit a one-out single to left field, only the Pacers second hit since the second inning.

Derek Ford to bring
Bradley Key to the plate. Following a passed ball moving
Hanks and
Sheehan up one base,
Key slapped a single to right field, scoring
Hanks for the game typing run.
USCA, however, did not want to head to extra innings, the way two of the three games last year did (1-1). With two outs,
Sheehan at third base, and a 2-2 count on
Leroy Walker, a wild pitch got by the catcher to the backstop and
Sheehan raced in from third, just under the tag of pitcher
Stan Smith for the 5-4 win.
Ford (2-2) went 6.1 innings allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits and seven walks, striking out two in the loss.
Garrett Holmescame on in the seventh to face

Farr who drew three walks in the game.
Mike Cunningham's RBI groundout to first base plated
Hanks and gave the Pacers the 3-0 lead.
???????Keown,
Hanks, and
Key each finished with two hits in game two for USC Aiken.
On the mound,
Nick Wandless made his first collegiate start. He worked well through three innings allowing one hit, but found trouble in the fourth, when USCS got all four of its runs. He lasted 3.1 innings allowing four earned runs on four hits and two walks, striking out two in the no decision.
Chris Wilson closed out the fourth scattering three hits and walking one in 0.2 inning of work.
Mike
Pomaville (4-4) tossed the final 3.0 innings surrendering just one hit, no runs, no walks, and striking out six in the win.
In game one, the Pacers outscored the Rifles 6-0 over the final four innings to post the 8-3 win.
Demetrick Drumming (6) hit a solo homer in the first as USC Aiken claimed a 2-0 lead after one.
???????USCS plated one in the second and then two more in the fourth on back-to-back RBI singles by
Adam Whiteside and
Patrick Brannan to push in front 3-2.
But the Pacers capitalized on two Rifles miscues in the fifth to plate two unearned runs and then tacked on three more in the seventh and one in the eighth.
