Box Score FLORENCE, SC--After yesterday's suspended Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader between #21 Francis Marion and #22 USC Aiken was pushed to Sunday, wet conditions did not allow the teams to commence playing today, thus the Patriots picked up the 2-1 win in six innings. FMU takes both games in the series and improves to 11-5, 7-3 PBC. USCA falls to 10-8, 3-5 PBC and still searching for its first road win of the season.
USC Aiken got on the board first in the fourth when
Ashley Farr led off with a single to center field.
Demetrick Drumming's ground out advanced
Farr to second, and
Tony Hanks singled to center field, plating
Farr and handing the Pacers a 1-0 lead.
That lead stood up until the bottom of the fifth inning when Pacer starter
Wes McColl walked two batters and hit
Richie Summey to load the bases with one out.
Bert Rollins singled to left field scoring two and setting the final margin at 2-1.
The Pacers were headed to the plate in the top of the seventh when the game was suspended due to rain.
McColl (2-2) went all 6.0 innings allowing the two earned runs on two hits and four walks, fanning one in the loss.
Kenny Cooley (3-2) also went the distance for Francis Marion giving up one earned run on four hits and no walks, striking out six in the win.
