USC Aiken Falls In Tightly Contest Game

Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--USC Aiken fell to the University of North Florida, 76-70, Wednesday night in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game in Jacksonville, Fla.  The Ospreys used a 17-6 run to begin the second half and the Pacers never fully recovered.  North Florida improved to 9-10 on the season and 6-6 in the PBC.  USCA meanwhile fell to 2-18 overall and 1-11 in the PBC.
After scoring just six points in the opening 20 minutes, UNF's Gary Satterwhite scored 11 points in the first seven minutes of the second half to key a 17-6 Osprey run to start the half and give North Florida its largest lead, 14 points, 57-43, with 13:18 left in the game.  The sophomore's lay-up five seconds after the start of the second stanza began the Osprey run and his two free-throws ended it.
Eric Dugans (Columbia, S.C.) cut the lead to 11 with a three-pointer but two free-throws by UNF's Justin Bridges put the Ospreys back in front by 13, 59-46, with 12:13 left to play.  Mira Jonuska's (Vilnius, Lithuania) lay-up with 11:55 remaining began a 15-4 Pacer run that cut the North Florida lead to two.  Lee Burton (Clearwater, Fla.) scored eight of USCA's 15 points during the run.  His two free-throws made the score 63-61 with 5:50 to play.
North Florida extended their lead to five points on three occasions over the next four minutes.  Back to back Osprey lay-ups extended the lead to seven points, 72-65, with 1:25 left in the game.  Two Burton free-throws cut the lead by two, 72-67, with 23 seconds remaining.  The junior finished the game with 12 points on just two-of-eight shooting from the field.  He did connect on all seven of his free-throw attempts.
A three-pointer by Bryant Latimer (Columbia, S.C.) got the Pacers within three, 73-70, but with just 13 seconds left in the game USCA would get no closer.  Three UNF free-throws set the final score at 76-70.
Satterwhite led North Florida with a game-high 21 points.
USC Aiken was hurt by turnovers.  The Pacers' 21 turnovers led to 25 North Florida points.
