Box Score AIKEN, SC--Kyle Langley hit two home runs and
Demetrick Drumming launched his fifth bomb of the season as the USC Aiken Pacers (6-6, 1-3 PBC) evened their record at .500 and snapped a six-game Peach Belt Conference losing streak dating back to last season.
Drumming got the scoring started early for the Pacers with his two out double to left center in the top of the first inning, scoring
Tavis Cummings from first base. USCA tacked on two more in the top of the third on
Langley's first of two homers on the day. The two-run blast to left center scored
Micheal Snelgrove for the 3-0 lead.
Jason Nuzny tossed a solid 6.1 innings in the no decision. He scattered six hits allowing four runs, two earned, striking out two and walking one.
Mitch Hearne (1-0) came on in the seventh inning with a runner at second, one out, and the score 5-4. After giving up a single to Lander's
Corey Watkins,
James Scrubbs scored the tying run on a passed ball.
Hearne then got the Pacers out of the inning.
Wasting no time,
Drumming led off the top of the eighth by smacking his fifth home run of the season, this one over the left field wall.
Ashley Farr then singled and later scored on a double by
Ashley Morgan.
Bradley Key, who drew a walk, would later steal home to make it 8-5 in favor of the Pacers.
Lander got one in the bottom of the ninth, but it was not enough as
Matt Ockuly (1) worked a hitless, scoreless ninth, striking out two for his first save.
Blake Riddle was 3-for-5 with one triple and three RBI to lead the Senators.
David Wilson, who came on in relief of starter
David Lee in the fourth inning, surrendered four earned runs on five hits and one walk in 4.0 innings to earn the loss.
The same two teams will meet in a twinbill tomorrow, Saturday (Feb. 23) at 1:00 PM at Legion Field in Greenwood, SC.
