AIKEN, SC--For the first time ever since joining the Peach Belt Conference and the NCAA in 1991, the USC Aiken men's soccer team (3-3-0, 1-1-0) defeated nationally ranked #5 USC Spartanburg (4-1-0, 0-1-0) 2-0 Saturday afternoon.
After a tense, scoreless first half, Pacer
Shawn Ord connected on a ball that ricocheted off of two bodies in front of the goal to take a 1-0 lead.
USCA's aggressive defense labored the Rifles as they managed to get off only four shots the entire game and goalkeeper
Jean-Pascal Bozso snagged two saves to complete the shutout.
Richard Wolf scored his third goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 78th minute to seal the victory for the Pacers.
Aiken composed themselves in the second half committing only seven fouls compared to 15 in the first half.
The Pacers next game is a non-conference match Wednesday, September 12 when they host Carson-Newman at 4:00 PM.
