SAVANNAH, GA--The USC Aiken Pacers (23-5) defeated Augusta State (11-12) in the loser's bracket 5-1 before falling to USC Spartanburg (12-8) 5-2 in the fifth place match of the 2001 Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Tournament. The three-day event was hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State University on April 20-22.
USCA finishes the regular season with a 23-5 overall record including a 5-3 mark in PBC play. The 23 overall wins and five conference victories are both school records.
The Pacers now await their postseason fate by the NCAA selection committee to see if they are tabbed for their fifth consecutive NCAA South Regional Tournament.
