Box Score STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Eagles defeated the Pacers of South Carolina-Aiken 6-0.
GSU jumped ahead with only 6:43 off the clock when senior Johan Saderstrom dished to Pat Parris who broke up the middle and found the back of the net. Then it was Parris' turn to do the dishing as he passed to Soderstrom who blasted one into the net (22:40). Jason Russell added two more by intermission to give Southern a 4-0 lead.
The second half began with a penalty kick. USCA's
Marlon Glean fouled Russell who belted one in the corner pocket just out of keeper
Dave Joyce's (six saves) reach. Next, GSU was charged with a yellow card allowing
Zach Craddock a shot from the penalty line. But Chris Brown, who just moments before stepped in the game to relieve keeper Mike Burrell (four saves) of his duties, blocked Craddock's shot for the shutout. Mike Povenz tipped one in the goal (57:05) during a scramble in front of the box to give GSU the 6-0 victory.
