SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC-Spartanburg men's soccer team scored a goal early in each half as they downed USC Aiken 2-0 Friday afternoon at Rifle Field.

With the win, the Rifles improve to 9-6-2 overall while the Pacers fall to 3-11-1.

USCS, which outshot USCA 14-0, scored its first 3:09 into the match on an unassisted goal by Peter Kirkelos in front of the goal.

The Rifles added an insurance goal 1:54 into the second half when Matt Lucas scored his 13^th of the season on a penalty kick after Kirkelos was fouled in the box.

USCS keeper Josh Martin recorded his fifth shutout of the season and the 14^th in his career. In eight meetings between the schools, the Rifles have held the Pacers scoreless in seven.
