AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standout Avery Macklin has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 17, 2017.

Macklin, a sophomore from St. Charles, Ill., guided the Pacers to a 2-0 week.

The 6-3 right side hitter registered a career-high 14 kills in the 3-0 win at Paine. She hit .565 in the contest and had a solo block en route to a career-best 15 points in just two sets of action.

In the home sweep of Claflin, Macklin was once again outstanding. She registered seven kills while hitting .600. Macklin was in on a block and posted a pair of digs.

For the week, Macklin led the Pacers in kills with 21, kills per set with 4.20, points with 22.5 and attack percentage at .576.  

The Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week honors one student-athlete each week from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
