University of South Carolina Aiken baseball standout Mitch Spence has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 6, 2018.

Spence, a sophomore from Cary, N.C., had an outstanding performance in the win over Catawba.

He worked six strong innings against the Indians and racked up 11 strikeouts. At one point, Spence registered 10 consecutive outs via strikeouts.

He allowed just three hits and one run while throwing 96 pitches. His performance helped propel USC Aiken to a 6-2 victory.

The Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week honors one student-athlete each week from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
