AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standout
Kari Mercer has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Student-Athlete of the Month.
Mercer, a native of Hilliard, Ohio, helped the Pacers to a 4-0 week.
She shattered the single-match school record for digs in the victory over Catawba with 49. Mercer had three matches with at least 20 digs in each contest. In all four matches, she garnered match-high honors for digs.
In the opener against Barton, Mercer added two aces and a kill. Against the Indians, she posted nine assists and four aces. Mercer registered 22 digs and three aces in the win over Converse before wrapping up the weekend with 20 digs in the sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne.
For the week, Mercer totaled 7.71 digs per set. She chipped in 15 assists and nine aces.
The team returns to action this weekend at the Pacer Invitational. USC Aiken will compete in four home matches beginning at 2 p.m., Friday against Mount Olive.
