AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women’s cross country standout Lauren Sigmon has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Student-Athlete of the Month for November.

Sigmon, a two-sport student-athlete, was the team’s top finisher at the PBC Championship over the weekend.

A native of Taylors, S.C., the junior posted a personal-best time of 20:33. The time was good enough for 32^nd place in the talented field. 

Sigmon, who picked up her second consecutive Athlete of the Week honor, posted one of the fastest times by a Pacer in the last 10 years. It was the fastest 5k time by a USC Aiken student-athlete since the 2016 season. 

The mark was just outside the top five list by a student-athlete for a 5k in the school’s history.  

The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2020-21 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
