What started as a walk-on opportunity quickly became a place
Avery Farthing could call home.
Â
A junior on the men's cross country team, Farthing joined the program as a walk-on during his sophomore year. Initially unsure of how he would fit in with an already established team, those concerns quickly faded as he was welcomed into the group. Now, Farthing considers many of his teammates some of his closest friends.
Beyond cross country, Farthing stays heavily involved throughout the USCA campus. While balancing the demands of academics and athletics, he also serves in several roles, including Chancellor Ambassador and Pacesetter, giving him the opportunity to represent and connect with the university community in different ways.
In his interview, Farthing shares how he has learned to manage each of his commitments while continuing to give his best to his team, academics, and involvement across campus.
