SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The No. 19 USCA golf team is in fourth place after the first round of the Wofford Invitational.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team shot four-under par, 280, through the first 18 holes of competition.
Rookie
Cameron Baez is tied for third at four-under par, 67. He is tied with four student-athletes for third. Baez stands one stroke behind Wofford's Andrew Neal and Radford's Tate Corbett for the lead. Baez accounted for a pair of eagles – on the first and 15
th holes, respectively. He also birdied No. 11, No. 12, No. 17 and No. 18.
Ian Williams is tied for 10
th at two-under par, 69. He opened with an eagle on the par-five, 516-yard first hole. Williams also birdied No. 12 and No. 14.
Hugo Boyer and
Mitchell McNeill are tied for 35
th at one-over par, 72. Boyer posted birdies on four holes (No. 1, No. 4, No. 12 and No. 15). McNeill accounted for five birdies (No. 5, No. 8, No. 11, No. 15 and No. 17).
Karl Frisk is tied for 41
st at two-over par, 73. He notched birdies on No. 1, No. 3 and No. 17.
Western Carolina leads the field at eight-under par, 276. South Florida and Winthrop are tied for second at five-under par, 279. Radford is fifth (even-par, 284) while Longwood is sixth at two-over par, 286, in the 13-team field.
