SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USCA women's cross country team earned an eighth-place finish at the Converse Kick-Off Friday evening.
North Greenville won the 5k meet while Carson-Newman and Lenoir-Rhyne took second and third, respectively. Converse, Georgia College & State University, Lees-McRae and UNC Pembroke were fourth through seventh, respectively. The Pacers were eighth with 204 points.
Head coach
Jim Sprecher's team was led by
Alaynah Guthrie's 20
th-place finish. She reached the line in 20:41.9.
Jenna Couch crossed the finish line in 21:40.1, which was good enough for 39
th place. She edged
Bailey Kirkland, who notched a time of 21:43.0, which put her 40
th.
Savannah Hill posted a 48
th-place finish after crossing the line in 22:09.2.
Emma Cox secured 57
th place with a mark of 22:30.9.
Ainhoa Colino was 64
th (23:03.7) while
Kendall Reynolds accounted for a 67
th-place effort with a time of 23:17.5.
Newcomer
Hattie Merryman registered a time of 25:17.2 while teammate
Anna Clare Platte was not far behind her after crossing in 25:41.1. Rookie
Kyleigh Porter secured a time of 26:02.8.
The Pacers return to action Friday, Sept. 12, when they compete at the Queens City Invitational.
