AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA golf team received the automatic bid for the PBC to the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional, which will be played at Howey-in-the-Hills, May 8-10.
The University of North Georgia is the top seed in the Southeast and is followed by South Atlantic Conference champion, Lincoln Memorial. Georgia Southwestern, USCA and Columbus State are No. 3-5, respectively. Wingate is No. 6 while Lander is No. 7. Lenoir-Rhyne checks in at No. 8, Flagler is No. 9 and Barton, the Conference Carolinas champion, rounds out the field at No. 10.
Four individuals from the Southeast Region have advanced to the regional. Asmund Norum of King University, Laurenz Meifels of Erskine College, and Simon Wright and Jamie Markwick of Anderson University will compete,
The regional is paired with the teams from the South region. Gulf South Conference champion, University of Werst Florida received the No. 1 seed. Lee is the No. 2 seed. Sunshine State Conference champion Florida Southern is third while Rollins is fourth. Nova Southeastern, Barry, Saint Leo, Palm Beach Atlantic, Embry-Riddle, and Spring Hill (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion) complete the field.
The four individuals from the South Region playing in the regional are Eric Boutwell of Montevallo, Gray Campbell of Union, Reggie Fear of Eckerd, and Chase Long of Valdosta State.
At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the finals, May 19-23 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.
