AUGUSTA, Ga. – USCA softball standout
Lakyn Phillips has been named the PBC Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office.
Phillips, a native of Lexington, S.C., guided the Pacers to a 6-1 week.
She recorded a 4-0 record and picked up a save. Phillips started four games and had three complete-game efforts. She tossed 24.2 frames and gave up just two earned runs. Phillips had 31 strikeouts and gave up six walks while sporting a 0.57 ERA while holding opponents to a .207 batting average.
In four innings of work against Benedict in her home finale, Phillips registered seven strikeouts and gave up just one hit.
She tossed a complete game in the victory over Catawba, striking out nine. In the series opener at USC Beaufort, Phillips once again had a complete game while striking out six. She worked two-thirds of a frame with two strikeouts to get the save in the middle game of the series before throwing another complete game with seven strikeouts in the series finale win.
Phillips hit .333 at the plate and scored a run against the Sand Sharks.
The save established her as the school's career leader in the category.
