Jalen McCoy,
Davion Cunningham and
Simeon German have been honored by the PBC.
McCoy picked up first-team accolades while Cunningham garnered third-team honors. German was named the PBC Defensive Player of the Year for his effort.
McCoy, a fifth-year standout from Raleigh, N.C., is the program's Division II career leader for points (1,708). The three-time all-PBC selection accounts for 19.8 points per game (third in the PBC) while he is sixth for field goal percentage (53.1 percent). McCoy averages 5.8 rebounds a game, which is tied for 11
th in the PBC. This season, he has five 30-plus point games to his credit and has reached at least 20 points 14 times.
Cunningham, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., is second on the team with his 14.6 points per game (14
th in the PBC). He accounts for 5.6 rebounds per outing (14
th in the PBC). Cunningham erupted for a season-best 31 points at Lander and pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds in the win over the Bearcats. Cunningham recorded a season-high six steals in the win over Catawba. He's hit 46.3 percent of his field goals this season.
German, a senior from Lagos, Nigeria, leads the PBC with 1.7 blocks per night. His 44 blocks on the year also top the rankings for PBC student-athletes. German swatted a season-high five shots against Fayetteville State. He's had 14 mutli-block games, including five with at least three. The standout has been a force in the lane, altering nearly every shot in the paint. He also pulls down 8.3 rebounds a night, which is third in the PBC.
It marked the third time USCA has had a Defensive Player of the Year. Alvin Brown won the award for the 2010-11 and 2013-14 seasons.
