For
Kevin Cox, baseball has always been a part of life. Growing up in Vidalia, Ga., pitching came naturally. But as the years passed, what once came easy slowly turned into a battle.
By the time he finished high school, Cox had been through more injuries than most players see in a career; Tommy John surgery and a broken hand are the kind of setbacks that make you question how bad you really want it.
He found his way to USCA ready for a clean slate, but then the pain followed him to college. A torn labrum in his hip sent him straight into surgery. Another recovery. Another uphill climb.
Still, Cox pushed through, grinding his way back to the field. Last season, he threw a full year and made it count, earning multiple Peach Belt Conference honors along the way.
Cox got the start for the 2025 season opener, ready to chase what he loved most. But arm pain cut his return short, and now he's working hard to fight his way back.
When asked what advice he would give to someone going through something similar, Cox talks about his family. "You just can't do it by yourself," he said.Â
For Cox, the story isn't about the injuries. It's about everything he's done to keep coming back.
