AIKEN, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team will celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on Friday, March 21, 2025, during its home game against Columbus State. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the USCA Softball Facility in Graniteville, S.C.

In partnership with Upside of Downs of Aiken, the event aims to raise awareness and promote inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome. World Down Syndrome Day is recognized annually on March 21 to highlight the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome.

As part of the celebration, individuals with Down syndrome are invited to join the Pacers on the field during pregame introductions. Participants are asked to arrive by 1:30 p.m. to take part in this special moment.

Following the game, all are invited to Mi Pueblo (3607 Richland Avenue, Aiken) for a community dinner from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Dinner will be provided free of charge for any individual with Down syndrome who attends.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear bright, mismatched socks to show support and help spark conversations about Down syndrome awareness and inclusion.
