Phillips Has Power

In the second game of the series at Georgia College, senior hurler Lakyn Phillips was also in the batting order. In the fourth inning, Phillips promptly helped her own cause by launching a three-run home run. It marked her second career extra-base hit and it was her first career round-tripper.

Having The Lead

USCA had the lead in two of the three games against the Bobcats. In the opener, the squad scored a run in the first off a Mallory Shaver RBI single. The team held the lead until the seventh. Down 1-0 in game two of the series, Lakyn Phillips provided a three-run blast for the Pacers. USCA held a lead until the Bobcats scored the game-winning run with two outs in the seventh.

Altering The Schedule

Earlier this season, the Claflin-USCA series was moved to Monday, March 17. On Saturday, the games were canceled. The team returns to action Friday when they host Columbus State. Game time was originally slated for 5 p.m.., but it was moved up to a 2 p.m. start.

Returning Home

After six straight road games, head coach Jaclin Poole's team returns home for a quick five-game homestand. The Pacers host Columbus State Friday and Saturday. The squad hosts Anderson on Wednesday, March 26, before returning to the road to play at Lander and Wingate (March 29-30 and then Apr. 1). 

Inside The Numbers

This week, USCA hosts Columbus State on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22. Since moving to Division II, the program is 109-103-1 (51.4 percent) in Friday games and 246-221 (52.7 percent) in Saturday contests. During the same time, the program is 9-12 on March 21 and 13-7 on March 22.

Against The Opponents

This week, USCA hosts Columbus State on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22. The Cougars lead the all-time series 58-21.
