Each week, USCA will post notes.
Tying The School Record
Against Erskine, newcomer
Peri Rouillard tied the school record with a pair of triples. It marked the first time a Pacer has hit two triples in a game since the 2014 PBC Tournament when Kaitlyn White smashed a pair against Columbus State on a rain-drenched afternoon. For her spectacular week, Rouillard picked up PBC Player of the Week honors.
Firsts At The New Facility
At the new softball facility, there have already been a bunch of firsts. For USCA (not the opponents),
Tara McGee recorded the first hit and first RBI.
Autumn Fisher was the first Pacer to cross home plate.
Mallory Shaver was the first USCA student-athlete to post a double while
Peri Rouillard was the first Pacer to record a triple.
Kate Newberry was the first Pacer to notch a home run.
Payton Baker was the first pitcher to strike out an opposing batter.
Long Shot By Shaver
Mallory Shaver tied her season high with a three-hit performance against Carson-Newman last week. One of the hits went for a home run to straight-away center field. The four-bag hit was Shaver's 30th of her career.
More On Shaver
Mallory Shaver is in some tremendous company in the school's record book. She's in eighth place for career hits (168), second for home runs (30), second for RBI (118), fourth for total bases (287) and eighth for walks (54).
Going The Distance
Rookie
Ally Fleming did not pick up the win against Limestone, but she tossed an outstanding game. The newcomer had three strikeouts and did not walk a batter. She gave up two runs on six hits while throwing a 74-pitch complete game.
Pitching The Shutout
Lakyn Phillips picked up a 4-0 shutout victory over the Saints in game two. It marked her first shutout of the season and the 13th of her career. It catapulted her into a tie for fifth place on the career list at USCA – and she is just two back of second place.
