BEAUFORT, S.C. – The USCA women's cross country team finished fourth at the Sand Shark Invitational behind
Alaynah Guthrie's school-record setting time in the 5k event.
Head coach
Jim Sprecher's team was led by Guthrie's 12
th-place finish. She crossed the finish line in a tremendous time of 19:11.4, besting the previous school mark by five seconds.
Jenna Couch crossed the line in 19:51.9, which was good enough for 23
rd place.
Bailey Kirkland was just behind her, snagging 24
th with a time of 19:52.6.
Emma Cox placed 25
th, finishing in 19:58.4.
Kendall Reynolds placed 37
th after crossing in 21:03.5.
Hattie Merryman was 40
th (21:18.0) while
Ainhoa Colino was 41
st (21:26.6).
Kyleigh Porter recorded a time of 24:49.8 for 65
th place.
Georgia Southern won the meet. Southeastern University was second while SCAD was third. Mount Olive was fifth.
The Pacers return to action Saturday, Oct. 25, at the PBC Championship, which is hosted by Georgia College. The meet will begin at 9 a.m.
