ELON, N.C. – The USCA men's cross country team finished seventh at the Elon Night Invitational, which was hosted by Elon Friday evening.
Head coach
Marshall Leonard's team was led by
Luis Cruzado's 23
rd-place effort in the 6k event. Cruzado crossed the line in a 6k school-record time of 19:51.1.
Fellow newcomer
Jacobo Garcia-Rivera's time of 20:20.6 was good enough for 32
nd place. USCA's
Zachary Haase notched a time of 20:48.7, which was good enough for 36
th place. Haase edged fellow newcomer
Evan McLeod, who posted a time of 20:55.3.
Julio Rojas was 38
th, crossing just over a second behind McLeod. Rojas earned a mark of 20:56.4.
Jase Wilson was 46
th with a time of 21:43.1 while
Julian Mendoza was 50
th after posting a mark of 23:37.0.
USCA took seventh in the nine-team field. Davidson won the event while Charlotte and Elon rounded out the top three spots. Fayetteville State, North Carolina A&T and Mount Olive were fourth through sixth, respectively. Shaw and Averett completed the teams that scored.
The Pacers return to action Friday, Sept. 13, at the Queens Invitational.
