Pacers Set For 3rd Annual Mizuno Intercollegiate

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA golf team competes at the 3rd Annual Mizuno Intercollegiate Sept. 23-24. The tournament is hosted by North Georgia and will be played in Gainesville, Ga.

Head coach Michael Carlisle's team is coming off a third-place finish at the Bearcat Fall Invitational. There, Erik Olin garnered a third-place effort by shooting 10-under par, 206.

Carlisle's team will consist of Oscar Abrahamsson, Karl Frisk, Nick Goellner, Mitchell McNeill and Olin.

The Pacers are led by Olin's 68.7 stroke average after his stellar performance during the first tournament of the season. He shot par or better in two of the three rounds. Olin had a low round of 66.

McNeill's 70.7 is second on the team. He had a pair of rounds at par or better and sported a low round of 68. McNeill finished at four-under par, 212.

Frisk carried a 72.0 stroke average during the first tournament. His low round was 71. Frisk shot par or better in two of the three rounds.

Abrahamsson's low round at the Bearcat Fall Invitational was 71. He tallied a 73.3 stroke average over the first 54 holes of competition.

Goellner registered a 74.3 stroke average at the season-opening event. He garnered a low round of 72.

A season ago, USCA finished ninth at the 2nd Annual Mizuno Intercollegiate. Abrahamsson was the team's top competitor in 2023, placing 13th after shooting three-under par, 213.  

The event is an all-inclusive collegiate stroke play event with low four scores from a five-person team. Monday will feature 36 holes of play with the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Tournament awards will be presented to the top finishing team, the individual medalist and an All-Tournament team of the top-five players.

The Chattahoochee Golf Club was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. on the banks of Lake Lanier, Chattahoochee Golf Club has been one of the premiere public golf courses in North Georgia since 1960. Built on 183 acres of rolling farmland, the course design allows for easy walking and is enjoyable for both scratch and high handicap golfers. In 2021, the golf course completed a $2 million renovation over six months that restored the venue to its original Robert Trent Jones, Sr. layout. The renovation included a recontouring of all greens and a conversion from bent grass to Bermuda Tiff Eagle. Chattahoochee Golf Club is home to 1973 Masters Champion Tommy Aaron and served as host of the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship and numerous NCAA Division II Regional Championships. 

Participants include USCA, Anderson, Barton, Carson-Newman, Columbus State, Erskine, Findlay, GCSU, Georgia Southern, Lander, Lee, Lincoln Memorial, North Georgia, USC Beaufort and West Florida.
