AIKEN, S.C. – This summer, PacerSports.com will connect with a handful of alumni. The series starts with volleyball standout Christine Carroll.
A two-time All-American and two-time PBC Player of the Year from Cincinnati, Ohio, Carroll made an immediate impact for the Pacers. During her rookie season, Carroll helped the Pacers to the Elite Eight, capping off an incredible performance in the NCAA Southeast Region Championship.
Trailing 2-0 to Queens, USC Aiken rallied to knot the match at 2-2, forcing the fifth set. The tightly contested fifth stanza saw the Pacers take a 12-8 lead after back-to-back points for the home team. Leading 14-13 after a point by Queens, Carroll ended the match with a kill off a pass from Emily Teelon, sending the program to its first-ever Elite Eight.
After a solid second season, Carroll elevated her game as a junior, earning PBC Player of the Year accolades. A first-team all-conference and PBC all-tournament team honoree, she garnered AVCA and D2CCA Honorable Mention All-America honors while finishing 19
th nationally in points per set (4.60) and 32
nd in kills per set (3.85). The first-team D2CCA and AVCA all-region standout upped her game even more as a senior.
In 2019, she earned AVCA second-team All-America honors and third-team D2CCA All-America accolades. The AVCA and D2CCA Southeast Region Player of the Year and first-team all-region selection was tabbed the PBC Player of the Year, was a first-team all-conference selection and an all-tournament team honoree.
Carroll finished her career with 1,112 kills (3.08 kills/set) while hitting .294. She posted 262 total blocks, including 72 solo stops. Carroll scored 1308.0 points during her time with the Pacers.
