LENOIR CITY, Tenn. – The No. 6 University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is in third place after the first day of the Tennessee River Rumble.
The event is being hosted by Lincoln Memorial on the par-72, 7,065-yard Wind River Golf Course.
The Pacers stand at nine-under par, 567. Top-ranked North Georgia leads the field at 14-under par, 562. Lincoln Memorial, second in the latest national poll, is second at 11-under par, 565.
After shooting eight-over par, 296, for the first 18 holes of competition, USC Aiken posted a 17-under par, 271, for the second round of action.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team was led by
Erik Olin's four-under par, 140. He opened the event with a four-over par, 76, before firing an eight-under par, 64.
Mitchell McNeill is tied for 10
th after the first 36 holes of play. He shot even-par, 72, for the first 18 holes of play. McNeill shot two-under par, 70, Monday afternoon.
Oscar Abrahamsson shot even par, 144. He shot an opening-round 74 before carding a two-under par, 70, for the second round. Abrahamsson is tied for 21
st.
Rory McDonald O'Brien is tied for 35
th place. After opening with an 80, McDonald O'Brien registered a five-under par, 67, for the second round of action.
Jonah Winter is tied for 54
th. He shot a six-over par, 180, for the first day of competition.
