AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA women's cross country team competes at the Sand Shark Invitational Saturday morning.
It marks the first time the squad has competed since a seventh-place effort at the Queens City Invite on Sept. 13.
In head coach
Marshall Leonard's team's last outing,
Gabrielle Jourdain was one of four student-athletes for USCA to establish personal-best times at the 5k event.
Jourdain's mark of 19:34.48 was the third-fastest time in school history.
Sydney Fallin,
Alaynah Guthrie and
Jenna Couch also notched personal-best marks for their respective efforts.
Ainhoa Colino rounded out the top five competitors for the Pacers at the Queens City Invite.
"The women have been progressing well, and they have used this extra time off from racing to recover from persistent injuries," Leonard said. "This break was the perfect time for the team. We are looking to get focused and perform well at this meet, as there will be some good runners there to challenge us."
In addition to USCA, the list of teams includes Albany State, Bethune-Cookman, Claflin, Columbia International, Converse, Edward Waters, Erskine, Fort Valley State, Georgia Southern, Lander, Mount Olive, Newberry, Northeastern Tech, Oxford College, South Carolina State, SCAD, St. Augustine's, USC Beaufort, Voorhees and Winthrop.
The last time the Pacers competed at the Sand Shark Invitational, the squad took fourth on Oct. 17, 2020.
