AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 12 USCA golf team competes at the Hurricane Invitational Oct. 7-8 in Americus, Ga.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team was supposed to play last week at the Bearcat Fall Classic, but it was canceled. The Pacers are coming off a fifth-place finish at the 3
rd Annual Mizuno Intercollegiate, which was hosted by North Georgia.
USCA's team will consist of
Erik Olin,
Mitchell McNeill,
Karl Frisk,
Jackson Beggs and
Oscar Abrahamsson.
Olin leads the team with a 69.5 stroke average. He's had a pair of top-10 finishes this season, including a top-five effort. Olin's best round was a 66. He, along with McNeill, share the honor with four rounds of par or better.
McNeill features a 71.3 stroke average through two tournaments. He has a top-10 effort in his two outings.
Frisk sports a 72.2 stroke average. He has had three rounds of par or better this season and has a low round of 69.
Abrahamsson isn't far behind Frisk, sporting a 72.3 stroke average. He has three rounds of par or better in six rounds of action. Abrahamsson's best round is a 68.
Beggs will see his first collegiate action at the upcoming tournament. Beggs attended North Augusta H.S., and sported a 72.6 scoring average. During his senior season, he won the state title. The two-time all-region honoree was the Region Player of the Year as a junior.
The 10th Annual Hurricane Invitational presented by Alfa Insurance Nate Gahman Agency is a collegiate stroke play event with low four scores from a five-person team. Monday will feature 36 holes of play with the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Tournament awards will be presented to the top finishing team, the individual medalist and an All-Tournament team of the top three players.
Nestled between towering oaks and pines, Doublegate's 18-hole, par 72 championship golf course offers a challenging round of golf. Doublegate members may choose from six adult and two junior tees which accommodates all skill levels. There is a practice area with target greens, practice bunker, and a 12,000 sq. ft. putting green. Doublegate's 12 dog-leg holes and ultra dwarf bermuda (Champion) greens present the golfer a unique experience.
Teams include USCA, Anderson, Barton, Carson-Newman, Columbus State, Georgia College & State University, Georgia Southwestern, Lee, Lincoln Memorial, North Georgia, Shorter, USC Beaufort, Valdosta State, West Florida and Wingate.
