AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team tied for third place at the Bearcat Fall Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.
North Georgia won the event after shooting 22-under par, 842. Columbus State took second. The Cougars shot 13-under par, 851. The Pacers shot eight-under par, 856, and tied with Lander. West Florida was fifth after shooting four-under par, 860, in the 18-team field.
USC Aiken shot rounds of 280-287-289 at the season-opening tournament. The event was held at the Forest Hills Golf Club on a par-72, 7,073-yard course and was hosted by Lander.
The Pacers were led by
Erik Olin's sixth-place effort. He shot seven-under par, 209, for the 54-hole event. Olin fired scores of 69-72-68. His round of 68 marked the lowest by the team at the tournament.
Oscar Abrahamsson turned in a 16
th-place finish after shooting three-under par, 213. He posted scores of 69-72-72.
Rory McDonald O'Brien notched a 21
st-place effort after shooting one-under par, 215. He carded scores of 70-73 before finishing the tournament with an even-par, 72.
Mitchell McNeill and
Matthew Baxley each competed in their first event at USC Aiken.
The Pacers return to action Sept. 18-19 at the Mizuno Intercollegiate, which is hosted by North Georgia. The tournament will be played in Gainesville, Ga.
