AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is in third place after the first day of competition at the Bearcat Fall Invitational.
The tournament is hosted by Lander and is being played at Forest Hills Golf Club. It is a par-72, 7,073-yard course.
The Pacers were led by
Oscar Abrahamsson and
Erik Olin. Both shot identical scores of three-under par, 141. They each shot an opening-round 69 before following it up with an even-par, 72. Abrahamsson and Olin are tied for 15
th.
Mitchell McNeill registered his first day of competition as a Pacer by notching a two-under par, 142. He shot an even-par, 72, before tallying a two-under par, 70, for the second round of action. McNeill is tied for 18
th.
Rory McDonald O'Brien opened his season with a one-under par, 143. He is tied for 25
th.
The University of North Georgia leads the way after shooting 22-under par, 554. Columbus State is second at 13-under par, 563 and USC Aiken rounds out the top three schools in the 18-team field. The team opened the tournament by shooting nine-under par, 567, through the first 36 holes of play.
