CAMP HILL, Pa. – University of South Carolina Aiken golf standout Karl Frisk recently captured the 20^th R. Jay Sigel Match Play Championship, which took place at the West Shore Country Club.

Frisk defeated John Peters (Duke University) in the championship one-up Wednesday afternoon.

""It feels very good to piece together a few good rounds and pick up good wins over very talented players," Frisk said. "This win gives me something good to build off of heading into my final tournaments of the summer and the fall collegiate season."

After losing the first two holes, Frisk won the next two holes, tying the match. Frisk notched victories on the fifth and sixth holes, as well as the eighth, for a 3-up advantage. He closed out the front nine 2-up.

Frisk claimed the win on hole 10 but Peters won two of the next three holes to pull within one hole after the 13^th hole. The pair traded victories the next two holes and Frisk maintained a 1-up advantage heading to the 16^th. 

They tied the last three holes for the match to finish Frisk being 1-up.

The USC Aiken standout started the tournament as the No. 13 seed and won his first match one-up over William Pabst (Penn State). Frisk claimed a quarterfinal win 2 & 1 Colin Smith. In the semifinals, Frisk notched a 5 & 4 victory, securing a bid in the championship match.

The rising junior is coming off a year where he had a pair of top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place effort at the UNG Mizuno Intercollegiate.
