Pacers Prepare For NCAA South/Southeast Regional

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is set for the upcoming NCAA South/Southeast Regional, which will take place May 11-13 in Davie, Fla.

Live Stats will be available and the regional will be hosted by Nova Southeastern at the Grande Oaks Golf Club. 

Head coach Michael Carlisle's team consists of Oscar Abrahamsson, Leonardo Bono, Karl Frisk, Rory McDonald O'Brien and Erik Olin.

The same five student-athletes are coming off a third-place finish at the PBC Championship that wrapped up on Apr. 23 in Augusta, Ga.

Olin leads the team with his 72.4 stroke average. His best round of the season – a 68 – occurred at the PBC Championship, helping him garner all-tournament team accolades.

Bono is not far behind Olin with is 72.7 stroke average. He is coming off a top-10 effort at the PBC Championship and carries a low round of 69 on the season.

Frisk has seen time in eight tournaments. He carries a 73.4 stroke average with one top-five finish and another top-10 effort. Frisk has shot par or better 10 times and has a low round of 68 on the year.

O'Brien's lone top-10 finish on the season occurred at the PBC Championship where he took seventh place. He sports a 73.7 stroke average and has shot par or better five times this season. 

Abrahamsson's best round of the year is a 69. He has shot par or better seven times and has competed in 11 events. Abrahamsson's stroke average is 74.1.

The regional features 14 of the top-25 nationally-ranked teams. This includes No. 1 Anderson, No. 2 Barry, No. 3 Lee, No. 3 West Florida, No. 5 North Georgia, No. 8 Nova Southeastern, No. 9 Georgia Southwestern, No. 11 Clayton State, No. 12 Lincoln Memorial, No. 18 Tampa, No. 20 Carson-Newman, No. 23 Barton, No. 24 Saint Leo and No. 25 Barton. Teams also receiving votes in the last Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll that will also be competing include the Pacers, Lynn, Shorter and Florida Southern. 

In addition to the 18 teams that were mentioned in the previous poll (ranked/receiving votes), two other schools (Limestone, Spring Hill) will vie for six spots at the NCAA National Championship.  

USC Aiken is looking to reach the NCAA National Championship for the first time since the 2018-19 season when they finished 12th.
