DAVIE, Fla. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is in eighth place after the second day of competition at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional.
Barry leads the field (-9, 559) while West Florida (-5, 563), North Georgia (E, 568), Lee (+1, 569), Shorter (+2, 570) and Clayton State (+4, 572) round out the top six teams.
Georgia Southwestern (+5, 573) is seventh while USC Aiken (+6, 574) and Nova Southeaster (+6, 574) are tied for eighth. Florida Southern and Carson-Newman are tied for 10
th.
Nova Southeastern is hosting the tournament at the Grande Oaks Golf Club, which is a par-71, 6,725-yard course. In all, 20 teams are competing for six spots at the NCAA Championship.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team was led by
Rory McDonald O'Brien in the second round. He finished the round at even par, 71. Standing at two-over par heading into the final two holes, O'Brien birdied each to close out the back nine at one-under par.
Karl Frisk closed out the day with four birdies on the back nine. He had five birdies for the round and finished at one-over par, 72.
Leonardo Bono shot two-over par, 73, over the second 18 holes of play.
Oscar Abrahamsson carded a five-over par, 76, Friday while
Erik Olin was a stroke behind him.
For the tournament, Frisk and O'Brien are tied for 21
st at even-par, 142. Abrahamsson is three strokes behind the duo and is tied for 47
th.
