Each week, USC Aiken will produce notes. This week, the Pacers travel to Florence, S.C. on Tuesday, March 7, to play Francis Marion. Then on Wednesday, March 8, USC Aiken travels to Hartsville, S.C. to take on Coker. On Friday, March 10, the Pacers return home for a three-game series against Peach Belt Conference foe Flagler.
Recapping Last Week
USC Aiken is now 12-5 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the conference. The Pacers finished the week 3-1 after sweeping the USC Beaufort Sand Sharks with a total of 39 runs to 10. USC Aiken's one loss came at the hands of the Southern Wesleyan Warriors on their home field. The final score was 3-2.
Hard Way To Lose
In the game versus Southern Wesleyan, the Pacers held a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. A walk at the beginning of the inning, followed by a stolen base, and a second walk put runners on first and second for the Warriors. A bunt by the next batter up loaded the bases. The next batter was hit by a pitch and the tying run crossed home plate. After a strikeout, the winning run was walked home ending the Pacers afternoon.
Welcome To The Conference
The USC Beaufort Sand Sharks are playing their first season in the Peach Belt Conference after moving from the NAIA. The Sand Sharks kept each game close in the early innings, but as the games drug on, the Pacers put runs on the board making it impossible to recover from. Across all three games, the USC Beaufort remained a respectable five runs behind the Pacers at 13-8. Over the remaining five innings of all three games, USC Aiken outscored the Sand Sharks 26 to 2.
