AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken softball standout Shi Cain has been named the PBC Player of the Week while Lakyn Phillips has been named the PBC Pitcher of the Week.

Cain, a native of Rockwell, N.C., guided the Pacers to a 2-1 week. She hit .714 for the three games, tallying five hits in seven at bats. Cain crushed two home runs, drove in three runs and scored three times. She posted an .818 on-base percentage as she drew a pair of walks and was also hit by pitches twice.

Phillips, a native of Lexington, S.C., went 2-1 in the circle against Georgia College & State. The sophomore tossed 13.2 innings and limited opponents to a .204 batting average. She struck out 11 batters and gave up one earned run for the week. Phillips had one complete game and sported a 0.66 ERA.

It marks just the third time in program history USC Aiken has had two student-athletes pick up honors the same week. The first time was on Apr. 6, 2009 (Jessica Strickland - PBC Player of the Week/Toni Flessate - PBC Pitcher of the Week) and the second time was on Feb. 24, 2015 (Samantha Chubb - PBC Player of the Week/Sydney Kate Murphy - PBC Freshman of the Week).
