AIKEN, S.C. – Student-athletes from the University of South Carolina Aiken men's and women's cross country teams recently made an impact on the community at Aiken Elementary.

"Our team had a great time reading with the young students at Aiken Elementary," head coach Marshall Leonard stated. "The athletes were spread out to a variety of grades ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade and special needs classes.

"The way the youth responded to the cross country members was heartwarming. Every class wanted to high five our athletes and take pictures with them. Our athletes walked out of their classrooms with the largest smiles possible and excitedly telling others what occurred in the classroom."

The Pacers are coming off a season that saw them set school records and have several top-10 performances in the school record books.
